About The ART of Insight Counseling

Happiness is something that appears to be all around us but when it comes to our own lives it often seems unachievable. Social media provides us with a glimpse of what we are ALLOWED to see and because of this we compare, we judge and we set ourselves up with unrealistic expectations. Whether it be in work, motherhood, our relationships or in our social environments we critique and find things we COULD or SHOULD be doing better. You are not alone in this mental battle. There is nothing wrong with asking for help to change feelings associated with unhappiness, anxiety, anger, addiction, fear or loss of identity. Sometimes you just need to be asked the right questions by a professional to find where you path in life is taking you or to realize the solution to your problem is within reach. Your unseen mental health is just as important as your physical health. Mental wellness is something we all strive for and deserve.

I have over 15 years experience working in both in-patient and outpatient adult psychiatric facilities, nursing homes and community mental health agencies. I use a variety of practical tools and skills including the option of art therapy to teach my clients how to identify their needs and make choices they can feel proud of. In the therapy room I am flexible, collaborative and creative. My goal is to work with you to explore thoughts and feelings associated with your past, present and future and provide insight into how these are impacting your daily life. There is an ART to getting to know yourself. There is an ART to having Insight. I can help you through the process.

Do you accept insurance?

I do not accept insurance at this time. There is a stigma related to having a "diagnosis" and I believe that people should be able to get the help they need without fear of reproach or reprisal for choosing to make their mental health a priority.

Many people seek therapy because of general life stressors or circumstances that would not otherwise be classified as a "mental illness/diagnosis". Insurance companies work under a medical model that require medical necessity which would not include life transitions, personal development, and relationship issues.

Alternatively, you may still be able to receive money back from your insurance company through Out-of-Network benefits. For this reason I am able to provide you with a detailed receipt of services called a superbill that you may be able to submit for reimbursement.

What forms of payment methods are accepted?

I accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, HSA (Health Savings Account), FSA (Flex Spending Account).

What is your cancellation policy?

My cancellation policy is that you can cancel or reschedule an appointment anytime as long as you provide a 24 hour notice. If you cancel an appointment with less than 24 hours notice you will be charged $65. If you fail to show up, you will be charged the full appointment fee.
